Loft Conversion Creating a New Bedroom & Shower Room

This project involved constructing a rear mansard loft extension to transform the unused roof space into a practical new living area. The layout enabled the creation of a spacious double bedroom, a separate shower room, and an additional raised sleeping/storage area to help maximise floor space, while maintaining comfortable head height throughout the loft. 

Connecting to the existing first floor, the design included a new staircase, carefully positioned to maintain safe access whilst ensuring compliance with building regulations.  

Structural Alterations & Roof Improvements

Supporting the new loft accommodations, significant structural works were undertaken. This included installing new steel beams, timber binders, floor joists, and support posts. We upgraded the roof structure with new ventilation, insulation and soundproofing to improve thermal efficiency and comfort. 

The conversion also included the installation of roof windows to bring natural light into the new rooms. Improvements were also made to fire protection, acoustic insulation, and ventilation throughout the converted space.
