Planning was gained to Raise the Ridge
Here we have a Victorian mid terrace house, where we added a rear L shape dormer with two bedrooms and a shower room, but was interesting here was that the loft space had very low headroom!
So there are two options- either lowering the existing first floor ceiling to gain the extra headroom required or go for planning permission to raise the ridge.
Luckily for this project the local council Southwark Borough, currently do allow the raising of the main ridge, so an application was submitted and successfully went through with an approval to raise the ridge, so lowering the ceilings was not required, which was a lot less disruption and cost for the customer and expense
The end result is brilliant with two spacious bedrooms and traditionally style shower room suite, plus a beautifully light hallway with skylight above
We had several quotes from loft companies and SLL were the most competitive offering what we wanted. They provided a detailed quote and drawings promptly and were able to begin work as soon as the go ahead was given by our local council. I oversaw the project throughout the process and was therefore able to keep an eye on any queries. The team Build London were efficient and pleasant to work with and have recommended SLL to my neighbour who has just received a quote.
